Worship
Collective worship takes place every day after lunch at 13.00 – 13.20.
Our school has a strong Christian ethos and we strive to empower and inspire every child to participate in an act of worship every day. Our worship is planned each half term with a value focus and this is done by the Worship Lead and then discussed with worship leaders from the church and the Ethos Group in school. It is then shared with staff. The theme for each week’s collective worship is introduced on a Monday and revisited throughout the week. Time is also given during the year for reflections on the Church calendar; other faiths, global citizenship and current events. Acts of worship often include secular and ritual aspects; these are a means of enabling worship and include:
• Lighting a candle
• Greetings and Dismissals
• Prayer
• Moments of silence
• Reflection
• Stories and readings from the Bible
• Sharing of personal experiences
• Worship songs, hymns and music
• Drama
• Artefacts, images, artwork and natural materials
• Children’s contributions – internal, verbal or written
On Fridays, our Worship is a celebration of good work to finish the week in school.
Parents/carers and family members are invited to share in special times of worship, such as class-led worship, celebration worships, and services to celebrate seasons in the church calendar which take place in All Saints Church, Higher Walton.
Our Ethos Group leaders are selected by each class from years 1 to 6. They meet half-termly with the headteacher to plan worship and develop worship areas in classrooms and shared areas around school.
Our Worship Partners
We are very blessed to have regular visitors to lead some of our worship. Rev. Hannah and Rev. Danny are much loved members of our school family, who through worship deliver important messages to children and staff which encourage us all to think, reflect and talk about God and our own personal faith too. Rev. Hannah and Rev. Danny join us from All Saints Church, Higher Walton.
Worship Areas
We have a worship table in our halls which serves as a focal point for collective worship. Each classroom has a designated worship table and during class worship this is used as a gathering space for reflection.
